Gilly's mission: how many toys can I carry in my mouth at one time.

The objective is determining whether each is an Inside toy or Outside toy. Gilly will have a toy in her mouth while standing at the door (either side) and look pleadingly up to Grandma with a pathetic questioning appeal. Grandma, is this an inside toy or an outside toy? "Drop" (nope, sorry Gilly) "OKay" bring it along to the other side of the door...and seems to care little which it is. Kind and loving, and always athletic.

Part of staying at the lodge; is spending some time ahead of stay for meet, greet, and learn that owners will survive while the dogs are at camp. No matter how many markings each dog makes on walks, humans don’t always remember which way to go!

After introductions to Herky, Inky, and Wyle, Muffin was ready for a walk. The door to the car (Moving Bedroom) is left open for the dogs. It has been known to have toys hidden inside, and takes the dogs to great places, plus it smells heavenly (?). With both side doors open it also serves for musical chairs.

Mom was slathered with kisses when she returned, and Muffin thought it might be a good idea for her to stick around and meet her new friends... rather than go home ;-)

Swimming Lessons

Bonita learned to hold her breath under water today! She was hesitant at first but she worked it out one pinky at a time (much to Grandma's delight). No pictures but maybe tomorrow with our beautiful guest Labrador Retriever. Yesterday was an off leash adventure (the adventure part was actually the leashed part from the car to the gate). We did baby steps to sit about a hundred and one times. She is obviously use to bolting from the car to the gate, full speed ahead and launch the torpedoes.

What a bundle of puppy energy. Bonita has located every toy inside and out. She squeaks and bounces and drops and carries. The very BEST ones are brought to Grandma for tossing. Once retrieved, she will proudly display in a victory dance before returning for another round, and another until a different toy begins a new (yet oddly similar) adventure.

Joy with every breath. Diving for toys at the bottom of the pool is the new favorite game. She dunks her head completely under water. It took a few tries, then she learned that if she put the weight of her foot on one end of the bone the other end would float up and she would grab it. Of course she forgot it the next time ;-) but what fun (for Grandma too)!

Miss Inky is over 15 now and has lots of interests besides sleeping. Her brother Hercules keeps watch on her, but has not yet been seen on the ramp. As soon as it was put in place, Inky had a "Well, it's about time!" look on her face and went right down. Since dogs don't see all colors, maybe she thinks it is her red carpet.

She is a sled Dog in a Cairn Terrier body :-) Bouncing (aka Bungee) Betty sometimes forgets and leaps from the ground after a passing interest like: SQUIRREL!-BIRD!-GOOD SMELL!-

With the harness and rubber leash shown here, she has (just a couple of times) flown through the air with the greatest of ease... singing a loud Whee of glee.

Grandma is not sure Betty is one to jump from a bridge wearing only a bungee harness but maybe a cape?

What a good boy. He had his surgery over a week ago and is doing great. Grandma bought him an inflatable collar to replace the plastic cone. It should protect the incision site, and is a whole lot better for seeing and moving around his world. Still gets tired after not too much exercise so the healing continues. His dad has done a great job taking care of his guy since his big day.

Luna and Avery met yesterday. Both bundles of energy and playfulness. Kindness is the the theme towards each other as well as their people. These two working dogs are getting along like siblings... playing leap frog, wrestling, rolling in the dirt then in the pool to see who gets more muddy! Grandma is working in the yard with newly delivered mounds of soil, gravel and sand, laughing throughout the day (before serious bath time).

Nellie likes Gigi and Gracie best, no doubt about it. She also likes having Grandma all to herself ;-). For awhile, in-spite of all the love and care, she missed her mom. Some dogs first time staying overnight somewhere is really hard. Thankfully she adapted to the new environment after a couple of days. Today she was like a puppy running around in circles and flirty (tag you're it?) on the floor when Gracie checked in. Fast Friends!

Mikey is a rescue who is being fostered by one of Grandma's Clients. He gets to have a picnic twice a week at the park and socialize while fumbling around with those big feet and free thinking limbs. He manages to trip himself every time he goes for an all out run. His Auntie Maddy keeps him in check teaching him respect of his elders, and acceptable behavior around two legged beings. She is a terrific nanny and will miss him when he finds his new parents.
